Carleton Place Canadians School days at the rink is fast approaching. As with previous years, the school with the highest percentage of attendance to their CPC Jr A game at the CP rink will win $500.
The Carleton Place Canadians will be dropping into the school on Monday February 24th to deliver your game day vouchers and possibly meeting a few of the kids.
Please let the parents know that St Gregory’s game is: Sunday March 1st at 3:00 pm
The students simply present the “admit one child voucher” at the ticket table to access the game.
We encourage the children to wear team or school colours and be ready to CHEER LOUD!!! The players love it… the louder the better for them.

We are continuing to make improvements on the play yard. The side yard is now available to explore. New paint on the pavement has added many new activities for students at recess time. Now we have a new badminton net! If you have any ideas please pass them along!
All students who had their pictures taken this week will be sent home with a proof (next week sometime) so you can see your child’s school picture. You are then able to order by returning the form to the school or place your order online. Instructions will be sent home with the proofs. If you request a retake please note the date of retakes is October 11th.
WITS is the program we use to help students deal with conflict on the yard. It teaches children the progressive steps to use when solving a problem, especially on the yard.
- WALK AWAY
- TALK IT OUT
- SEEK HELP
This program is supported by our local police, and families are encouraged to learn and use these strategies at home.
When something goes wrong you can choose which tool to use. Should you walk away? Sometimes that is a good choice and solves the potential problem.
At other times you can ignore the person who is bothering you. If those two strategies don’t seem to be working, you can talk to the person. Let them know that what they’re doing is bothering you and ask them to stop.
Sometimes you need to get some help from an adult or your friends .
As issues arise, we try to model and encourage the children to use their WITS.
There is some great information for families on the WITS website.
